Teacher – Non Core Subjects
Responsible to : Centre manager
Alpha Learning is a small Independent School that has recently gained its Ofsted registration. We cater for KS3 and KS4 students who have disengaged from mainstream education.
It is an exciting time to join Alpha as we begin the journey as an Independent School and we are looking for a dynamic individual who wants to be part of a team that will move Alpha forward.
We are seeking to employ an experienced flexible teacher to teach non core subjects to be agreed at KS4 and KS3. This will involve the delivery, assessment, and application of AQA Units, Functional Skills (non core) and NOCN Level 1 Qualifications, although this could be expanded with mutual agreement as the role progresses.
As we are a specialist independent school, we have small class numbers with a maximum of 8 students per class with 3 or 4 groups running at any one time, with an emphasis on pastoral care that allows you the time to work closely with students and build positive relationships.
You will be responsible for the teaching non core subject curriculum, with support being provided by the Curriculum Manager and Centre Manager where required.
You would be expected to be an active participant in activities we run alongside the curriculum and opportunity to introduce or lead in enrichment activities for Personal Development or PHSE would be available.
It is desirable that you have prior experience working with students with social and emotional and Mental health needs, a working knowledge of SEN would be beneficial.
You will have a strong awareness of safeguarding and be prepared to become familiar with and follow the policies of the Independent School.

- Be able to manage students with a range of abilities in a small classroom environment.
- Be able to work within a small close-knit team.
- Be comfortable offering PHSE and Personal Development sessions.
- Driving licence, car, business insurance and willingness to transport students as required (mileage will be reimbursed)
Hours of work – 8 am – 4pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, 8am -5pm- Wednesday – to attend staff meeting, 8am -3pm Friday.
Teaching times 9.30 – 2.30pm

Salary dependent upon experience expected range:
Qualified – £26,000 – £35,000
